In 1983 Father James Hoge OSB, then pastor of St. Benedict Church, Crystal River identified a need in our county to provide food and clothing for the needy. He established Daystar Life Center as a mission of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Financial services were added to meet the growing needs of Daystar clients. Daystar continues to add services and programs to meet developing needs within the county.
Offer financial assistance within established guidelines.
Meet the needs of the hungry

Daystar Life Center also operates a thrift store that provides funding for our programs and our operating expenses. We are grateful for the generous support we receive for our thrift shop. Daystar proudly works hand in hand with United Way of Citrus County.
